Title: POWER SUPPLY MANAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE OF MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN SOUTH-EAST, NIGERIA.pdf Author: EBIZIE, CHUKWUEMEKA GOODLUCK & DR. N.H AKPANABIA Abstract: The study examined the relationship between power supply management and performance of manufacturing companies in South-East, Nigeria. The study employed survey research design and questionnaire was used to collect data. The data collected were presented in tables and analysed using Simple Percentages, Mean Statistic and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient through SPSS version 21.0. It was found that electricity duration and electricity affordability/cost has positive relationship with customer retention and cost reduction. It concludes that whenever enterprises were faced with unstable power supply, they suffered low productivity, customers’ retention, cost reduction, and market share got reduced. It was recommended that the Nigerian government should effectively improve electricity access to manufacturing companies in the country. In addition, the government should do everything within its powers to ensure that power supply in Nigeria is stable with improved capacity so as to enhance productivity of business. Title: TALENT LOCATION AS A COMPETITIVE STRATEGY OF DEPOSIT MONEY BANKS IN SOUTH EAST NIGERIA.pdf Author: UDABA, FRANCIS NWABUNWANNE Abstract: This study investigated the relationship between talent location and competitive strategy. The study outlined three objectives, research questions, and hypotheses. The researcher chose survey methods of study because the questionnaire was the primary tool for data collection. The study made use of Pearson product moment correlation. The goal of correlation analysis was to determine the significant association between the independent factors and the dependent variables. The results revealed a substantial relationship between talent mapping, innovation, and employee retention, as well as a link between location-based recruiting and staff retention. Based on its findings, the study found that there is a link between talent location and competitive strategy. The study proposes, among other things, that deposit money banks perform frequent talent audits and market analyses. Title: TALENT RETENTION AND THE STABILITY OF ORGANIZATIONS A STUDY OF BANKING INDUSTRY IN ABIA AND IMO STATE.pdf Author: NWOKOMA GIBSON ANOZIE Abstract: This study focused on talent retention and stability of organizations: a study of banking industry in Abia and Imo States, Nigeria. The study was carried out to examine the effect of talent retention and the stability of organizations: a study of banking sector in Abia and Imo States, Nigeria. It was anchored on the Resource-Based Theory, Theory of Organizational Equilibrium (TOE), and the Social Exchange Theory. The survey research design was used and a questionnaire served as the instrument of data collection. The population of the study was 398 made up of staff in deposit money banks (DMBs) in Imo and Abia States, Nigeria. It focused on the staff of Zenith Bank, Union Bank, Polaris Bank, Access Bank, Ecobank, FCMB, Stanbic IBTC, Fidelity Bank, and First Bank. The sample size was 200, and only 194 copies of questionnaire were returned. The data collected was analyzed using simple percentage and mean statistics, and the hypotheses were tested using Pearson correlation coefficient through SPSS Version 21.0. It was found that there is a significant effect of employee recognition on productivity in the banking sector, there is a significant relationship between employee recognition and productivity in the banking sector, there is significant effect of employee compensation on strategic focus in the banking sector, and there is significant relationship between career development and strategic focus in the banking sector. The study concludes that achievement of stability in organizations depends on the extent of talent retention. It was recommended that recognition and compensation of workers should be a priority to achieve desired productivity and strategic focus of organizations. View |

Title: CORPORATE LEADERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN DEPOSIT MONEY BANKS IN ABUJA, FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY.pdf Author: IFEOMA IHENAKWE ANTHONIA Abstract: This study examined the relationship between Corporate Leadership and Womens Participation in Deposit Money Banks in Abuja (FCT), focusing on how organizational culture, talent development influence gender diversity and women work-life balance. The population of the study comprised 1000 employees drawn from seven banks, Data were generated from a sample size of 200 respondents through a well structure questionnaire prepared using the Five-Point Likert Scale. Data obtained was analyzed using mean scores and standard deviation. Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used to test the hypothesis. The target respondents comprised of those in top executive positions across gender lines. Findings revealed that there is a positive correlation between organizational culture, talent development, gender diversity and work-life balance. The study concludes that corporate leadership plays a crucial role in promoting womens participation by fostering inclusive cultures, effective talent management and providing avenues for women’s career advancement. The study therefore recommendations that management of organizations should develop policies which promote gender equality, establish career advancement programs, and constantly conduct diversity assessments. Title: NON-MONETARY INCENTIVES AND EMPLOYEES’ PERFORMANCE OF DEPOSIT MONEY BANKS IN SOUTH EAST, NIGERIA.pdf Author: ONYENZE, UZODIMMA VITALIS Abstract: This study examined the relationship between non-monetary incentives and employee performance of Deposit Money Banks in south east, Nigeria. The study proposed six objective, research questions and hypotheses. The population of the study was made up to 250 staff comprising of five selected banks in South East, Nigeria. A sample of 154 respondents was computed from the total population using taro yamene formula of sample size determination. In achieving this, data were generated from the primary source as the questionnaire was the major instrument used to generate the data. Out of questionnaire distributed to the staff of these deposit money banks, 150 questionnaire were retrieved and used for the study. The Instrument which is the questionnaire was subjected to face and content validity and was found to be reliable using Cronbach alpha as a coefficient of internal consistency. Product moment coefficient correlation was used to test hypotheses. The study found that there is a significant association between company award and employee quality of work; there is a significant nexus between staff training and employee quality of work; and there is a significant association between staff training and customer satisfaction. The study recommends among others that deposit money banks are advised to intensify effort towards improving on their incentive packages in the area of reward to improve the level of quality of work of the employees. Title: WORK-FROM-HOME INITIATIVE AND PERFORMANCE OF MULTINATIONAL OIL COMPANIES IN RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA.pdf Author: GODWIN, KELECHI NNABUIHE & PROF. E.R.B UDOKWU Abstract: This work is on the relationship between work-from-home initiative and performance of multinational oil companies in Rivers State, Nigeria. It focused on Shell, Total and Chevron. To achieve this, six specific objectives, six corresponding research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The work was anchored on management by objective and ecological theory, and the researcher employed survey research design. In addition, questionnaire was used to collect data. The population covered 3,233 staff of the organizations under study, from where 356 were selected using Taro Yamane sampling formula. Though, only 340 copies of the questionnaire were returned and used from 356 copies distributed. The data collected were presented in tables and analysed using Simple Percentages, Mean Statistics and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient through SPSS version 21.0. From the SPSS software, this study found that work life balance, cost & risk reduction and virtual collaboration have positive and significant effect on effective/timely delivery and output maximization. It concludes that with effective technology and properly defined responsibilities, staff can deliver outstanding performance while working from home. Here, work from home is a cost saving initiative for both the employer and the employee reduces exposure on the roads and improves staff wellbeing. It was recommended that multinational oil companies should effectively implement work life balance so as to achieve effective/timely delivery, improve staff wellbeing and timely delivery of targets. Furthermore, work-from-home initiatives through work life balance should be encouraged to ensure more output maximisation in the oil companies. Title: POINT OF SALE (POS) SERVICES AND PERFORMANCE OF RETAIL OUTLETS IN LOKOJA, KOGI STATE.pdf Author: OGALA DAVID POLYCARP Abstract: This study explored POS services and business performance of retail outlets in Lokoja, Kogi State. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of POS services (cash withdrawal services and cash deposit services) on business performance (customer patronage and customer satisfaction) of retail outlets in Lokoja. Nine (9) research questions and hypotheses were developed to address the objectives of the study. The study adopted the cross-sectional survey research design. The population of this study comprised all the 1,062 retail outlets registered with the Kogi State Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Sample sizes of 291 retail outlets were studied. The sample size was determined using the Taro Yamene’s formula. A structured questionnaire was used as the main instrument for data collection. The data collected were analyzed statistically using percentage and frequency tables, and mean score while the Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient (rho) were used to test the hypotheses. The analyses were done with the aid of the SPSS version 24.0. The findings revealed that cash withdrawal services have significant relationship with customer patronage and customer satisfaction in the retail industry. Cash deposit services were also reported to have a significant relationship with customer patronage and customer. The study equally revealed that funds transfer services have a significant relationship with customer patronage and customer satisfaction. Based on these findings, it is concluded that POS services such as cash withdrawal services and cash deposit services are significant predictors of business performance of retail outlets in Lokoja, Kogi State. Therefore, it is recommended that retailers in Lokoja especially those that are experiencing poor business performance should embrace modern technology by acquiring POS terminals and provide cash withdrawal services and cash deposit services to their customers as it would surely improve their business performance. Title: TURNAROUND STRATEGY AND SURVIVAL OF DEPOSIT MONEY BANKS.pdf Author: MOMAH IJEOMA NNEKA Abstract: Turnaround strategy and survival of Deposit Money Banks is a research conducted to investigate the relationship of repositioning, reorganization and financial restructuring with organization’s adaptability. Three major banks in Owerri were selected for the study by convenience technique based on their accessibility. Using judgemental technique to include only the managers, supervisors and heads of units, 270 respondents were selected for the study, excluding lower cadre staff and groups that lacked the experience to provide valid responses to the questions contained in the sampling instrument. Descriptive statistical analysis was applied to the data to determine average scores of the question items on a five-point measurement scale. The hypotheses of the study were tested by correlation analysis powered by the SPSS. The results showed that significant positive relationships existed between financial restructuring and organizations adaptability (r=0.619 and r=0.842 respectively). A similar direct relationship was observed in the correlations of reorganization and adaptability (r=0.725 and r=0.696 respectively); as well as repositioning and adaptability (r=0.0.586 and r=0.702 respectively). The p-value in each case was less than 5%, leading to the rejection of the null hypotheses and to the conclusion that turnaround strategy had a significant relationship with organization’s survival. Title: INDUSTRIAL ACTIONS AND OPERATIONAL OUTCOMES OF FEDERAL TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN ABIA AND IMO STATES, NIGERIA.pdf Author: IGBOZURIKE UZOCHUKWU MICHAEL & PROF. E.R.B UDOKWU Abstract: This study investigated the nexus between industrial actions and poor operational outcomes of tertiary educational institutions in Abia and Imo States. Data were sourced through the administration of questionnaire to he identified respondents. Data collected were subjected to descriptive analysis and Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis. Findings revealed that indefinite strike exerted significant positive relationship with low quality of graduates, lack of staff commitment to duties and prevalence of social vices among undergraduates. Results also indicated that warning strike significantly and positively related with low quality of graduates, lack of staff commitment to duties and prevalence of social vices among undergraduates; it also revealed that a significant positive associated existed between sympathy strike and low quality of graduates, lack of staff commitment to duties and prevalence of social vices among undergraduates. The study concludes that incessant industrial actions in the Nigeria higher institution have fueled poor education standard and encouraged undergraduates’ involvement in all manner of social vices. The study recommended (among other thing) that Nigeria higher institution management should ensure a harmonious relationship with the staff by creating conducive environment for the workers; that he federal government should learn to keep faith to her agreements with employee labour unions to avoid incessant industrial actions by the unions; and that the law makers should strengthen the labour laws in order to enhance employees’ welfare delivery by the employers of labour generally and higher institutions’ governing council in particular.
