4 Title: COMMUNAL CONFLICTS AND CHALLENGES OF NATIONAL INTEGRATION IN NIGERIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY.pdf
Author: CYPRIAN C. ALOZIE, PhD.
Abstract: Nigeria as a multi-ethnic and heterogeneous country is composed of people from different ethnic groups. As a pluralistic society, there has been the coexistence of people from these diverse ethnic groups and classes as they go about expressing their interests, beliefs and the pursuit of goals which are either mutual or conflictual. Communal conflicts in Nigeria have continued to pose enormous challenges to national integration in the country in view of the persistence of these conflicts. In Nigeria, some factors such as socio-economic, cultural, political and ecological have given rise to communal conflicts. Due to their virulent nature, these conflicts have resulted to the destruction of lives and property of innocent citizens. Cases of internal dislocation and displacement have also been recorded in some places. To a considerable degree, these conflicts have negatively affected the peaceful coexistence and mutual harmony among the people of Nigeria and thus, crippling the national integration efforts of the Nigerian state. The study adopted the qualitative descriptive approach. Data for the study was sourced through the secondary means of data collection. The study reveals that the low level of tolerance and spirit of accommodation among some Nigerians as well as the weak capacity of the state on conflict resolution have heightened communal conflicts in Nigeria. 10 Title: BRIDGING THE GAP-BETWEEN SECONDARY AND TERTIARY EDUCATION.pdf
Author: AGABI, CHINYERE ONYEMAECHI
Abstract: This paper is directed at identifying causes of gaps in learning which is believed to be a strong reason for the persistence of examination fraud and the weakness of tertiary education institutions in producing the desired quality of human resources for national development. Bridging these gaps from the primary education level through to the secondary education level will improve on the quality of candidates that are enrolled at the tertiary level. Bridging education gaps would require addressing the causes of the gaps from the root. Bearing in mind that each level of education has a foundation on a lower level, it is considered that the gap in learning between secondary education and tertiary education should be bridged from primary education. Failure at one level affects learning achievement at subsequent levels. The paper concludes that policy of ‘all promoted’ is harmful to the achievement of national development through school system education. It therefore suggests that students who do not meet the basic requirement for promotion should not be allowed to transit to higher classes; and tertiary education institutions should adopt a combination of written and oral examinations to ensure that only persons who are qualified for tertiary education are selected and enrolled. Candidates on concession list should also meet the basic minimum requirement for tertiary education admission. View
11 Title: INTEGRATING ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION INTO THE CURRICULA OF NIGERIAN ADULT EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.pdf
Author: TAMUNODIENYE N. MBA, PhD.
Abstract: Inculcating entrepreneurship education into the curricula of Nigerian adult education programmes is an important step to build and innovate culture and create entrepreneurial persons and organizations.  These will in turn create economic growth and jobs and help improve growth and jobs and help improve the quality of life in Nigerian.  The low level of exposure to business and entrepreneurship in adult education for all students is making the shift from necessity to opportunity entrepreneurship difficult.  More effective measurement and evaluation of the long-term impact of entrepreneurship education programmes in adult education on economic growth and job creation is needed.  This should be based on generally defined set of outcomes not only on narrow measures as start-ups created but should be a consensus on the definition of entrepreneurship education and the scope of what should be measured and agreement on the process of data collection and on coordinating mechanisms. The sample and sampling techniques used was a multistage sampling technique with a sample size of four hundred youths. This figure was generated using Taro Yamane Formula. The instrument for the study was the questionnaire. The instrument was pattern with modified 4-point likert scale of Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree and Strongly Disagree. Test re-test technique was used to ensure the reliability of the instrument. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to obtain the reliability co-efficient value of 0.85. The finding reveals that traditional media can be used to inform, entertain and educate the people. The finding also indicates that traditional media can be used for entertainment through music, dance, wrestling and drama performance. The study recommends that government should promote the uses of traditional media in reaching or mobilizing the rural people, there should be more emphasis on the uses of traditional media, there should be proper funding of traditional media of communication to preserve our values, norms and cultural heritage and government and opinion leaders (Ezes) should encourage the traditional media orators by paying them and providing public address system to enable them reach large audience. 14 Title: DETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL MARKET POLICY BY THE APPLICATION OF MARKOV CHAIN ANALYSIS.pdf
Author: STEVE NWANKWO
Abstract: In this study we applied the first order Markov chain to determine the market share of customers of beer in the current period as a basis for predicting future market shares. The transition probability matrix was estimated which helped us to obtain the scope of brand loyalty and brand switching among four types of beer. From the model obtained was established that the optimum marketing mix among the various types of beer were as follows Guiness (51%), star (26%), Gulder (15%) and Henekin (8%). This will serve as a guide towards attaining optimal policy that maximizes the expected revenue over a long time. Other subsequent periods were predicted using the model. 17 Title: SEMANTICISM AS A METHODOLOGICAL INHIBITOR OF THE PRESENCE OF INTERPRETER SYSTEM IN LOGICIST EPISTEMOLOGY.pdf
Author: ETOROBONG GODWIN AKPAN
Abstract: The study of logicism was carried out to ascertain the cause of the recorded failures of the logicists logic. The method adopted for the study was phenomenological hermeneutics, which is a subset of content analysis. It was discovered that the central problem of logicism was the assumption of the validity of semanticism, with the attendant adoption of representational semantics as a substitute for epistemological demonstration. The consequence of this assumption is the inhibition of the presence of the interpreter system as a logically necessary component of the logicist epistemic demonstration. It was argued in line with Gödel’s completeness thesis that an adequate epistemology must be behavioural and constructivist, which necessarily entails the inclusion of an interpreter system and is given symbolically as {U = (A, I)}.
